“Young Changemakers – Pune Conference – Children’s Recommendations for a Sustainable Lifestyle as a Response to Climate Change and Disasters”
This was the subject for 1ST “YoungChangeMakers”, conference was held on 20th Feb 2010. It was first of its conference for school children in which 750 children from 50 schools of Pune participated.
The motto was ‘One School, One Solution’. Thus, the children becoming true ‘Change Makers’ by providing recommendations (and commitment) to work on in three dimensions: the Self, the School and the Community. The first Young ChangeMakers conference, was based entirely around research for designing student-recommended solutions & their presentations.
2nd YCM conference was held in 2012 with more overwhelming response. 2000 students from over 100 schools of Pune participated in this ver. 2.0 of YCM. They presented their views on 100+ topics on environment, social and civic issues. Along with paper presentations, this conference adopted two unconventional formats of presentation, Knowledge Mela , to connect with Pune citizens and Street plays, to create awareness.
YCM 2.0 also hosted Developing Game Ideas, Short video film and ‘My City’ photo contest competitions to develop and allow students to express themselves through various creative modes.
